Less Impact for More Spending
In FY21, $154.2 billion in federal contract dollars was afforded to small businesses, with $72 billion given to small-business subcontractors. Despite the overall increase from the previous year, the number of small businesses receiving prime contracts with the federal government decreased during the same period.
Diversity Supplier Spend Growing
A 2021 study of 100 large global and US-based companies found that almost three quarters either already run or plan to expand their global supplier diversity programs by 2023, and that the average 2025 target is to spend 13% with suppliers that are more than 51% owned or controlled by an individual or group that is traditionally underrepresented or marginalized.
